About This Access Site
Sugar Bottom Recreation Area offers a four-lane concrete boat ramp with paved parking in the southeast section of Coralville Lake, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. Located off Sugar Bottom Beach Access Road near North Liberty, the facility is part of a larger recreation area that includes a seasonal campground (May–September), swimming beach, and 18-hole disc golf course. The ramp is suitable for various watercraft and offers good amenities for day-use visitors.

Coralville Lake is a large, multiple-use reservoir that provides ample space for recreational boating and paddling. Keep in mind that all boats must be removed from the water each day—overnight mooring on the shoreline is not permitted. For paddlers seeking extended trips or overnight camping, reservable campsites with full hookups (50-amp electric) are available at Sugar Bottom Campground during the season. For campground reservations or additional information, contact (319) 624-2102 (May–September) or (319) 338-3543 x.6300 (October–April).
