Sugar Ridge Fish & Wildlife Area

Sugar Ridge Fish & Wildlife Area offers paddlers and boaters access to East Twin Pit, one of numerous lakes and pits within this 8,500-acre reclaimed mining area near Winslow in Pike County. The site features a boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. **Important motor restriction**: Only electric motors with a maximum 12-volt capacity are permitted on the water. Be sure to use designated parking areas when launching.

This Fish & Wildlife Area encompasses six separate areas with approximately 100 pits and lakes, making it a diverse destination for paddling and fishing. East Twin Pit offers a relatively protected paddling environment compared to flowing river systems. The landscape reflects the area's mining heritage, with overburden ridges creating scenic backdrops. Accessible fishing areas are available at nearby West Twin Pit (Area 1) and Pigeon Pit (Area 2) if you're interested in exploring multiple launch sites during your visit.
