This 2,532-acre reclaimed mining area features approximately 28 pits and lakes with roughly 600 acres of water surface, making it an excellent destination for kayaking, canoeing, and small motorboat recreation. The area is managed by Indiana DNR and offers designated parking areas for water access.

**Access & Regulations:** Only electric motors with a 12-volt maximum are permitted, making these calm pits ideal for paddling. An ADA-compliant fishing pier and courtesy dock are available, providing safe and accessible entry points for paddlers of all abilities. Be sure to park only in designated lots. For specific amenities, accessibility permits, or current conditions, contact Sugar Ridge FWA at (812) 789-2724 or visit wildlife.IN.gov.

Nearby, the Ohio River's Newburgh Pool offers additional paddling and historical significance as part of the Lewis and Clark route.
