Summit Lake State Recreation Area offers the only public boat ramp access to Tekamah Creek in the area, making it a valuable launch point for paddlers exploring this waterway. The site features two boat ramps and five docks to accommodate kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft. A mandatory 5 mph no-wake speed limit keeps the lake calm and ideal for paddling. The park is open year-round, 24 hours a day, though a park permit is required for access.
The recreation area provides full amenities for paddlers planning extended trips, including a minimum-fee campground with both tent sites ($7) and pad sites ($9) available year-round. Recent maintenance projects have improved water depths and addressed erosion, enhancing the paddling experience.
