Sun Lakes State Park offers excellent freshwater access to Park Lake with two dedicated boat ramps and 20 feet of dock space, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The park provides ample support amenities including trailer parking, a dump station, accessible parking, and picnic areas. Note that water-skiing is restricted during certain times of year, so check current regulations before your visit.
The park is well-developed for recreation with multiple facilities spread across seven connected campground loops. A separate road system provides access to the boat ramps, and park staff recommend using an additional vehicle or biking if you're towing a trailer, as this reduces congestion in the main parking areas. In addition to paddling Park Lake itself, the nearby Columbia Basin Project lakes—Banks Lake and Billy Clipp Lake—offer additional exploration opportunities for boaters willing to venture beyond the immediate access site.
