About This Access Site
Sunnyside Park offers year-round day-use access to Foster Reservoir, a scenic 1,200-acre impoundment on the South Santiam River in the Willamette Valley, located about 30 minutes from Interstate 5 near Sweet Home. The boat ramp is open year-round and provides convenient launching for kayaks, canoes, motorized boats, sailboats, and paddleboards. The reservoir is subject to seasonal water-level fluctuations, so expect good boat ramp access during normal water levels, though bank access becomes the primary option during low-water draw-downs in late season.

Foster Reservoir operates under a 10 mph speed limit, making it an ideal destination for paddlers and slower-paced boating. The area offers additional amenities including picnic facilities and nearby campground options like Sunnyside Campground. If you're planning an off-season visit, note that fishing and paddling can be quite good with fewer crowds, though water levels will be noticeably lower. For current conditions or seasonal updates, contact the Linn County Parks Department or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which manages water releases that can affect reservoir levels.
