About This Access Site
Located at the north end of Sunset Park in Onawa, this public boat ramp provides access to the Missouri River for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp approach points downstream and can be difficult to spot from the river until you're very close, so approach cautiously if paddling in this area. The facility accommodates boats ranging from 16 feet to 60 feet in length and offers a marina with quality docking space available.

This access point offers primitive camping near the ramp, making it a convenient overnight option for paddlers doing multi-day Missouri River trips. Basic amenities are available on-site, including food service and supplies. The ramp is well-suited for both launching and take-outs on the Missouri River, a major waterway that requires awareness of current, water levels, and typical big-river conditions.
