Located in Iron River in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, this developed boat ramp provides convenient access to Sunset Lake for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The concrete launch is situated at the end of Frakes Street and serves as the primary access point for paddlers exploring the lake and its water trail system. The site features 120 feet of beach frontage, a boardwalk, playground, and portable toilet facilities, making it a family-friendly destination.
Sunset Lake is a popular paddling destination with a scenic water trail ideal for canoes and kayaks. Paddlers can explore around the lake and small Maple Isle, and more adventurous paddlers can venture south for about one mile under the Red Arrow Highway bridge to reach additional waterways. The site is open sunrise to sunset daily, and boat trailers are required to display a valid county permit.
For those planning an extended trip, Lake Ottawa Campground is available within 10 miles of the access site and offers reservable campsites nearby.
