Sutcliffe 1 offers convenient boat launch access to Pyramid Lake, a large desert reservoir in northwestern Nevada known for excellent fishing opportunities. The ramp is located in the small community of Sutcliffe on the lake's western shore and provides straightforward water access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. On-site amenities include a boat ramp, picnic tables, and flush toilets, making it a functional option for day trips and launching adventures on the lake.
**Important Requirements:** All visitors must purchase a valid tribal permit before launching or using the water—permits can be obtained online at PyramidLake.us/permits or at the Ranger Station in Sutcliffe. Additionally, due to aquatic invasive species concerns, boats must pass an inspection and comply with Clean, Drain, and Dry procedures. Failure to do so can result in fines up to $5,000. Note that Popcorn Rock Boat Access has been closed to public launches due to golden mussel prevention efforts.
For a larger, high-volume launch facility with more parking, consider Emigrant Landing as an alternative. Paddlers should obtain their tribal permit in advance to ensure a smooth visit to this scenic northern Nevada lake.
