T. P. Lake in Callahan County offers a public boat ramp located on the south shore near the dam, providing convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. The ramp is situated under the I-10 bridge, making it relatively easy to locate. To reach the launch, take Texas 49 west to FM 729, turn left, then left again on FM 726, continue across the dam, and turn right on FM 3001 where you'll find the entrance on the right.
Before launching, all boaters are required to clean, drain, and dry their vessels, trailers, livewells, and gear to prevent the spread of invasive species like zebra mussels. This is not only legally required but essential for protecting Texas waterways. Check current lake levels before your visit, as the ramp's usability depends on adequate water elevation, and be aware that access may be restricted during severe flooding conditions.
