Tahquamenon River

This hard-surface boat ramp provides direct access to the mouth of the Tahquamenon River and Whitefish Bay on Lake Superior. Located in Emerson near the river's outlet, the facility features a well-maintained paved ramp with adequate depth (2.5-3 feet minimum at 20 feet from shore) suitable for all trailerable watercraft. The site includes paved parking, a floating dock, rustic toilet facilities, and a boardwalk, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.

From this access point, paddlers can explore both the Tahquamenon River upstream and venture into Whitefish Bay. The river offers a mix of paddling opportunities, though be aware that deeper stretches have minimal current. Anglers frequent the area for brook trout in the East Branch and various species including northern pike, bass, walleye, and perch.
