About This Access Site
Tamarack Point offers a well-maintained boat ramp providing excellent access to Lake Winnibigoshish, one of Minnesota's largest lakes at over 67,000 acres. The ramp is easy to use for launching and landing canoes and kayaks, with ample parking available nearby. The facility is located within Chippewa National Forest, approximately 13 miles north of Deer River via Highway 46, then west on County Road 9 and Forest Road 2163.

The campground features 31 sites with boat docking and access, making it ideal for multi-day paddling trips. Nearby alternative campgrounds include Winnie Campground and Cut Foot Horse Campground. The lake's clear, pristine waters are popular for fishing and recreational boating. Note: Before launching, ensure your watercraft is clean to prevent the spread of invasive species to other water bodies.

Tamarack Point campground is 13 miles north of Deer River on Highway 46. Turn west off 46 onto County Road 9.  Travel south on County 9 for six miles before turning west onto Forest Road 2163.  The campground is approximately five miles northwest on Forest Road 2163.
