This primitive boat launch provides access to the Crooked River in Florida's scenic Tate's Hell State Forest, located near Lanark Village in Franklin County. The site features a gravel landing suitable for canoes, kayaks, and small motorized boats, with adjacent grassy parking areas for vehicle and trailer parking. Water levels can fluctuate with tides, so paddlers should be aware of potential access changes during low tide or outgoing tidal conditions.
The Crooked River is part of an extensive network of 35 miles of paddleable waterways throughout Tate's Hell State Forest, making this an excellent entry point for exploring creeks, rivers, and streams. The forest offers numerous dispersed primitive campsites positioned along river banks with direct water access, ideal for multi-day paddling trips. The area is recognized as part of both the Florida Scenic Trail and the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and nature exploration. Additional boat ramps and landing sites are available elsewhere in the forest if you need alternatives.
