**Access Overview**
Tempe Town Lake Boat Ramp #3 is located at the northeast corner of Tempe Town Lake on the Salt River in Tempe, Arizona. The facility features a full-service marina with ample parking and a pull-through launch area suitable for trailer boats. For paddlers preferring a shorter walk, a small boat ramp is also accessible on foot from the parking area near the north lawn, making this site convenient for both motorized and human-powered craft.
**Before You Launch**
All watercraft using Tempe Town Lake require a Town Lake permit. Permits can be purchased at Tempe Public Library or Pyle Adult Recreation Center, though Riverbound Sports includes permits with equipment rentals. The lake itself was created by inflatable dams on the Salt River's mostly dry riverbed. The surrounding Salt River is a major waterway (stream order 8) with an average flow of 1,291 cubic feet per second and notable gradient, so conditions can vary seasonally.
**Recreation Nearby**
Beyond the lake, the area offers a 7-mile loop trail around Tempe Town Lake popular with walkers, joggers, and cyclists. WestWorld in nearby north Scottsdale provides additional recreation opportunities at the base of the McDowell Mountains in the Sonoran Desert.
