About This Access Site
Tempe Town Lake Ramp 4 provides convenient access to the Salt River in central Tempe, near the intersection of Scottsdale Road and the 202 freeway. This location offers a small boat ramp within easy walking distance of parking areas, making it accessible for kayakers, canoeists, and small watercraft users. A Town Lake permit is required for all watercraft and can be obtained at Tempe Public Library, Pyle Adult Recreation Center, or through rental shops like Riverbound Sports.

The Salt River is a major waterway with an average flow of 1,291 cubic feet per second and moderate gradient of 17 feet per mile. Paddlers should be prepared for moving water with an average velocity of 6.95 feet per second.
