Temple Lake Park's North Boat Ramp offers convenient, free 24-hour access to Belton Lake and the Leon River from the Temple area. The facility features a two-lane concrete boat ramp, parking area, courtesy dock, and restroom facilities. Located on the east shore of the lake along the Owl Creek arm, the park is easily accessed via Texas Highway 36 northwest from I-35 in Temple. This USACE-operated facility is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters looking for a well-maintained launch point.
The park operates year-round, though seasonal closures affect the south ramp and beach parking areas from October through February. During these months, the north ramp and entrance road remain open for boat launches. Paddlers should note that Belton Lake offers access to historical sites including the Charter Oak on the Leon River near Belton and nearby attractions like the Stage Coach Inn in Salado. The park includes picnic areas and amenities, making it suitable for day trips on the water.
