About This Access Site
The Point is a public boat ramp providing access to the Mississippi River in Winona, located in scenic Upper Mississippi River Valley. This is a major river system—the Mississippi averages nearly 685,000 cubic feet of water per second with strong currents averaging 11.24 feet per second. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for significant river flow and respect the power of this large waterway.

As a Stream Order 10 river, the Mississippi at this location is suitable for experienced paddlers and motorboats rather than beginners. The ramp provides access to Pool 5A of the river, with additional public facilities and recreation areas scattered throughout the pool. Nearly Commissory Point Campground (Corps of Engineers) offers a no-fee camping option and picnic area accessible by boat. Before launching, check current water conditions, as high water periods can affect access and navigation safety on this major river corridor.
