Thompson Southwest Public Water Access

**Location & Access:** Thompson Southwest is located at Cloverleaf Colony in Kingsbury County, approximately 6 miles southwest of Lake Preston off US Highway 14. This boat ramp provides access to Lake Thompson, a popular recreational water body in South Dakota.

**Facilities & Services:** The site features a boat ramp suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The Lake Thompson Recreation Area offers additional amenities including campgrounds, camping cabins, drinking water, and a biking trail system. **Planning Your Visit:** Note that there is also a boat landing on the northwest shore and another ramp at Lake Thompson State Recreation Area on the northeast corner of the lake, giving paddlers multiple launch options. This makes the area convenient for exploring different sections of the lake or for groups splitting up during visits.
