Three Island Lake is a 288-acre lake located just south of MN Highway 200 near Bemidji in Beltrami County. The DNR public water access features an earthen boat ramp with parking for approximately 6 trucks and trailers, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. The ramp is located near the outlet of the lake in Three Island County Park, accessible via CSAH 23.
The lake has a maximum depth of 25 feet, though most areas are less than 9 feet deep, making it manageable for paddlers of various skill levels. The water supports northern pike, bass, and panfish including bluegills, sunfish, and perch. Winter paddlers should be aware that ice travel can be unsafe in certain areas due to currents near the outlet. With limited parking, arriving early during peak season is recommended.
