About This Access Site
Located just below Tionesta Dam in northwestern Pennsylvania, this access point provides convenient entry to Tionesta Lake, a scenic 500-acre impoundment winding through the forested hills of the Allegheny National Forest region. The site features two boat ramp areas with large surfaced ramps and ample parking, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats of all sizes. The nearby Tionesta Recreation Area Campground offers shower facilities and restrooms, plus overnight camping options if you want to extend your visit.

Tionesta Lake is well-suited for recreational paddling and fishing, with calm, protected waters ideal for kayakers and canoeists of varying skill levels. The area supports populations of bass, musky, panfish, and trout. If you're planning an overnight trip, the reservable campground at the Recreation Area is just 0.5 mile south on SR 36 from the town of Tionesta. Tionesta is a culturally rich region with a long history. The Seneca Indian tribe named this area "where the water separates the land." Nearly a century ago, narrow gauge railways dotted the surrounding countryside, hauling out virgin timber from the hillsides.Recreation
In-season hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and water skiing, are all available from Tionesta.
Visitors interested in wildlife viewing are likely to spot white-tailed deer, porcupine, wild turkey, osprey and opossum.
