About This Access Site
Town Creek is a large, flowing tributary of the Ohio River suitable for various watercraft. With an average flow of 1,165 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 5.8 feet per mile, paddlers should expect moving water conditions. The ramp is located in Cloverport and can be accessed via US-60 west to KY-144, crossing the bridge over Town Creek. This is a practical launch point for exploring the creek system, which drains 680 square miles and offers 41+ miles of paddling distance.

Nearby amenities include German Ridge Campground (10 miles away, reservable) for overnight stays. The creek flows through Yellowbank Wildlife Management Area, providing scenic and wildlife-viewing opportunities for paddlers and anglers. From this location, experienced boaters can also access the nearby Ohio River's Cannelton Pool, a managed section popular with recreational boaters and historically significant as part of the Lewis and Clark route.

Paddlers should be prepared for the creek's steady current and moderate flow. This site works well as a put-in for downstream paddling or fishing trips, with access suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.
