About This Access Site
Tradinghouse Lake Park offers two public boat ramps on the south shore of Tradinghouse Creek Reservoir, making it a convenient access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters in McLennan County. Located east of Waco via Texas 6 toward Hallsburg, the park provides straightforward water access without on-site camping facilities. The reservoir itself is a modest-sized impoundment with a normal capacity of approximately 37,800 acre-feet, suitable for recreational paddling and boating.

Anglers frequent the lake for largemouth bass and crappie fishing, with TPWD-installed fish habitat structures ("crappie condos") strategically placed around the lake. While these structures are primarily marked for anglers using GPS and fish finders, they provide reference points for all water users navigating the reservoir. The relatively calm, contained waters of the reservoir make it a good option for paddlers seeking a shorter day trip rather than downstream creek paddling. Before heading out, check current water conditions and confirm any seasonal access restrictions through local Parks and Wildlife information.
