About This Access Site
Trenton Island Boat Landing provides access to the back channel of the Mississippi River in the scenic Upper Mississippi River Valley. Located just south of Trenton near Hager City, the ramp is easily accessed by taking Jefferson Avenue south to Grosse Ile Parkway and heading east—look for the landing on your left about three blocks from the intersection (do not cross the bridge to Grosse Ile). This facility was recently improved and reopened in 2015. User fees are charged at this location.

The Mississippi River at this location is a major waterway with substantial flow and current. As a Stream Order 10 river, expect significant water volume with an average flow of 685,000+ cubic feet per second and average velocity of 11.24 feet/second. The river's gentle 0.8 ft/mile average gradient in this region makes for navigable paddling and boating conditions, though paddlers should respect the strong current. This access point serves kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore Pool 4 of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, which extends between Red Wing, Minnesota and Winona, Minnesota—offering scenic wildlife viewing opportunities.
