About This Access Site
Troy Access #2 is a well-maintained boat launch on the Grande Ronde River near Grouse in Wallowa County. The ramp is approximately 20 feet wide with two launch lanes and a spacious parking area suitable for vehicles with boat trailers. This access point serves as a popular take-out for paddlers floating down the Grande Ronde and is also the location of the Troy Trailhead, which provides hiking access to the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness area.

This is an ideal take-out for multi-day float trips down the Grande Ronde River. Common float distances include the 45-mile run from Minam to Troy. Water conditions vary significantly with seasonal flow: below 2,000 cfs, rapids become more technical with exposed rocks requiring careful maneuvering; above 10,000 cfs, rapids develop more powerful hydraulics. The Narrows is the most difficult rapid in this section and can be easily scouted and portaged on river left. The Minam Store, located across the river from the launch, offers boat rentals, shuttle services, and supplies, though it's recommended to arrange your shuttle and stock supplies before arriving.
