About This Access Site
Trujillo Meadows State Wildlife Area offers a boat ramp access point to La Jara Creek, a small mountain stream located in southern Colorado's Conejos County. The boat ramp provides an entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to explore this high-elevation waterway.

The access site is located approximately 35 miles north of Antonito, Colorado, via County Road 17 and Forest Service Road 118. The boat ramp and surrounding area provide parking and basic amenities, though facilities are limited. Visitors should come prepared with their own supplies, as services may be scarce in this remote, wilderness setting.

While the reservoir itself offers 69 surface acres, fishing is reported to be poor, and the waterway itself may pose challenges for larger watercraft due to its small size and high-mountain character. Paddlers and boaters should use caution and be aware of any potential obstacles or changing conditions when navigating La Jara Creek. A valid hunting or fishing license, or Colorado State Wildlife Area pass, is required to access and use this public land and water resource.
