Tunk's Landing provides access to Kincaid Reservoir, a 2,600-acre impoundment in Rapides Parish managed by the U.S. Forest Service within Kisatchie National Forest. The East Boat Launch Area features a paved ramp with extended parking, a floating dock, and nearby restroom facilities, making it a well-maintained option for kayakers, canoeists, and larger boats. The relatively large, calm reservoir surface is suitable for various paddling skill levels.
Beyond paddling, this location serves as the trailhead for the scenic Lakeshore Trail, which connects to the Wild Azalea Trail and other forest hiking routes—ideal for combining water and land recreation. Kincaid Lake Campground is available nearby for multi-day trips. To reach the launch, take LA 121 south to Valentine Lake Road (Forest Road 279), then follow Forest Road 205 for approximately 7 miles to the boat launch road, just before the Kincaid Lake entrance station. Be aware that day-use or recreation fees may apply; check with Kisatchie National Forest for current rates and seasonal hours.
