About This Access Site
Turkey Foot offers boat ramp access to the Pond River in the Peabody Wildlife Management Area near Rockport. This scenic paddling destination features abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, including bald eagle hunting grounds and excellent waterfowl habitat in the sloughs and wetlands. The area is particularly notable for its white bass run in early April, making it popular with both paddlers and anglers.

**Practical Information:** A user permit ($15.00) is required to enter the WMA and can be purchased wherever Kentucky hunting and fishing licenses are sold. Parking is limited—use designated parking areas only and avoid blocking gates or access roads. The ramp is located downstream of newer tracts and provides direct river access. To reach Turkey Foot, take US-62 northeast from Greenville past Rockport, turn left on KY-1245, and follow WMA signs to the lake and ramp area.

**Important Note:** Hunters are active in the area, particularly during hunting seasons. Firearms cannot be discharged within 100 yards of the boat ramp, so paddlers can expect a safe zone immediately around the access point, though awareness is recommended when paddling elsewhere in the WMA.
