Turkey Run Lake is a 15-acre impoundment located 2 miles north of Ravenswood in northern Jackson County, WV. The site features a public boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized vessels. This is a day-use area only—camping is prohibited in the Turkey Run Wildlife Management Area. The lake is stocked with trout, crappie, bluegill, and channel catfish, making it popular for anglers as well as recreational paddlers.
The access site is maintained by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and is open to the public for launching and retrieving watercraft. Given the small size of the lake, Turkey Run is best suited for casual paddling and fishing rather than extended touring. Paddlers seeking longer routes can access the nearby Ohio River navigation pools—the Racine Pool (34 miles to Belleville Locks & Dam) and Belleville Pool (41.5 miles to Willow Island Locks & Dam) are accessible via secondary routes from the Ravenswood area.
