About This Access Site
Twin Buttes Marina provides boat ramp access to Twin Buttes Reservoir, a 9,080-acre impoundment on the Middle and South Concho Rivers west of San Angelo. The main ramp is located off US 67, approximately 3.75 miles west of Loop 306. A secondary low-water ramp is available to the northeast near Knickerbocker Road. This is a primitive facility with no marina services, but basic amenities including campgrounds and RV hookups are available in the area.

The reservoir reaches maximum depths of 46 feet and offers diverse paddling and boating opportunities across its two pool system. Kayakers and canoeists should be aware that the lake features variable structure and extensive aquatic vegetation, which can affect navigation and water conditions. The facility is suitable for recreational fishing (catfish, bass, crappie, white bass, and sunfish are common) and general boating activities. Note that as of September 2016, a Limited Public Use permit ($12/year) or Annual Public Hunting permit ($48) is required for persons 17 and older to access the recreation area, with permits sold on a license-year schedule expiring August 31.
