About This Access Site
The Twin Lake boat ramp provides access to West Twin Lake, a 120-acre backcountry lake located in Ely, St. Louis County. The ramp is situated on the east side of the lake and offers parking for nine vehicles with boat trailers. A parking pass is required for boat trailer parking from April 1 through November. The lake's maximum depth is 18 feet with about 2 miles of shoreline, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.

This launch provides access to one designated backcountry camping site on West Twin Lake, operated on a first-come, first-served basis. The site includes a fire grate, latrine, and picnic table. Paddlers should be aware that this is a backcountry area requiring self-sufficiency—all water must be treated or boiled, food must be hung properly, and fires must be completely extinguished before leaving the site. The Twin Lake system also offers connections to additional lakes and camping opportunities via the Twin Lakes Canoe Route.
