Twin Points is a protected public access point on Lake Superior, located midway between Two Harbors and Silver Bay in Lake County. Built in 2002 on a reclaimed resort site, this facility offers a dedicated boat ramp and accessible kayak launch with dock, making it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels. The site features paved parking with designated spaces for larger vehicles and accessible parking, plus both permanent and portable restroom facilities.
The location provides excellent opportunities to observe Lake Superior's maritime activity, including views of the adjacent Iona's Beach Scientific and Natural Area and the impressive iron ore loading docks where freighters up to 1,000 feet long dock. A waterfront walking trail adds to the site's appeal. As a sheltered access point on Lake Superior's north shore, Twin Points offers paddlers a safer entry point compared to more exposed areas, though paddlers should always be prepared for Superior's dynamic conditions and exercise appropriate caution.
