About This Access Site
Two Island Lake Campground, located about 15 miles northwest of Grand Marais via County Road 12 (Gunflint Trail), provides public boat access to this 754-acre lake. The facility features a boat ramp and dock suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 27 feet and is known for its healthy populations of walleye, smallmouth bass, and northern pike.

The campground is a fee facility offering amenities including water, toilets, and trash containers—useful for day-trippers and overnight visitors. Beyond Two Island Lake itself, paddlers can access the nearby Twin Lakes Canoe Route for a more secluded backcountry experience with established campsites similar to those in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This makes the location ideal for both anglers looking for a convenient launching point and paddlers seeking either day trips or gateway access to remote water routes.
