**Overview & Access**
Tygart Lake State Park in Grafton offers two concrete boat ramps with recently expanded facilities, making it an excellent launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The access area includes a shared 75-spot parking lot, portable restrooms, a fishing pier, trash receptacles, and lighting. One ramp has been extended to allow access later in the season, typically through October depending on water levels.
**Lake & Recreation Opportunities**
Tygart Lake is a 10-mile-long impoundment created in 1938 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake offers plenty of room for paddling, boating, fishing, and swimming with no horsepower restrictions. The surrounding area features five hiking trails and scenic foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. The lake maintains crystal-clear water and is generally a calm, scenic destination suitable for various water activities throughout the season.
**What to Know**
As a non-reservable public facility, the ramp operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Plan your visit accordingly during peak season, and note that water levels may affect access in drier months. The park provides basic facilities but no overnight camping at the ramp area itself—though cabin rentals are available elsewhere in the park.
