About This Access Site
Unit C-South provides boat access to the Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge near Pleasanton in Linn County. This access point is located south of 1700 Road on the west side of the river, adjacent to the main pumping station. The ramp supports paddlers and boaters interested in exploring this 7,500-acre refuge that features a mix of bottomland hardwood forests, wetlands, and prairie habitats.

The refuge offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and paddling through scenic natural areas. Approximately 5,000 acres are open to public recreation, while about 2,500 acres are closed to protect critical wildlife habitat. This is a particularly good spot for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, as the refuge hosts diverse migratory bird populations, especially during summer months. Before your visit, check with the refuge for current water conditions and any seasonal access restrictions that may affect boating.
