Upper Bartons Creek provides direct access to Falls Lake, a 12,000-acre Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Neuse River near Raleigh. The ramp is approximately 20 feet wide and accommodates a variety of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, motorized boats, and paddleboards. This location offers a peaceful paddling experience in the upper portion of the lake with calm waters ideal for recreational boating and fishing.
Falls Lake itself is part of the larger Neuse River system, a major river (Stream Order 8) that drains 5,535 square miles across North Carolina. While the entire river system averages a 1 ft/mile gradient with significant flow, the reservoir section at this access point provides still-water paddling conditions. The lake's protected waters make this site particularly suitable for kayakers and canoeists seeking a scenic, low-impact paddling environment.
