About This Access Site
Located on Route 32 just below the Milford Bridge in Bucks County, Upper Black Eddy offers a paved concrete boat ramp maintained by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission at river mile 167.7. This is a no-fee public access point suitable for both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. However, parking is very limited, accommodating only 4 car-and-trailer combinations, though a private launch and parking area may be available just south of the main site. Note that the facility has no restrooms and closes at 10 p.m.

The Delaware River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow—averaging over 30,000 cubic feet per second—making it suitable for experienced paddlers and boaters. With a stream order of 8, this section reflects the river's character as a major river system with moderate gradient (2.7 ft/mile average). Paddlers should be prepared for substantial current and plan accordingly. The Upper Black Eddy access provides a good launch point for exploring this section of the Lower Delaware National Wild and Scenic River, which flows through forests, farmlands, and historic communities as it makes its way toward the Atlantic.
