About This Access Site
Upper Eau Claire Lake is a 1,024-acre lake in Bayfield County near Solon Springs, offering excellent access via a public boat landing. With a maximum depth of 92 feet and notably clear water, this lake is well-suited for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating. The substantial size and depth provide good conditions for paddlers looking for a full day of exploration.

The lake supports a healthy fishery with Musky, Walleye, Northern Pike, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, and Panfish, making it popular with anglers as well as recreational paddlers. The excellent water clarity is a bonus for paddlers who enjoy seeing the underwater environment. Before launching, note that the Wisconsin DNR offers free life jacket loans at select boat landings—check with the landing staff about availability and current services.
