About This Access Site
Upper Mud River Lake offers two convenient boat launch ramps for paddlers and boaters in the Upper Mud River Wildlife Management Area near Palermo, Lincoln County. Located 12 miles south of Hamlin on County Road 7, this 306-acre impoundment provides access to Left Fork Mud River and its connected waters. The site features full amenities including restrooms, fishing access for those with disabilities, picnic areas, and hiking trails, making it suitable for a full day of recreation.

Boaters should note that motorized vessels are limited to 10 horsepower on the lake, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and small electric or trolling motors. The lake is stocked with muskellunge, largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish for anglers. **No camping is permitted on site**, though the surrounding 1,425-acre wildlife management area offers other recreational opportunities. Bring your own supplies and plan accordingly, as this is primarily a day-use facility.
