The Upper Oconomowoc Lake boat ramp is a popular public launch in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, though it does require a launch fee. This is the primary public access point for Upper Oconomowoc Lake. Be aware that water entry at this location is not straightforward—paddlers must traverse an uneven concrete and Lannon stone path to reach the water, so plan accordingly for gear transport.
From this launch, paddlers can explore south toward the Oconomowoc Lake Dam and venture downstream into Fowler Lake, making this a good starting point for moderate-level paddling trips. Note that portaging the dam is required to access the lower lake areas, though the portage route is marked and manageable. If planning to paddle beyond Upper Oconomowoc Lake, be aware that public access options are extremely limited on the lower Oconomowoc Lake and Okauchee Lake systems, so plan your route carefully and prepare to return to this access point.
