The US90 Double Bridge access point provides one of the only public boat ramps with direct access to the lower Nueces River below the dam in Uvalde County. This location is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters looking to paddle or launch on the lower river section, which transitions from freshwater to saltwater environments. The ramp is located in a county park setting with convenient amenities, including a nearby bait stand for anglers.
To reach the access site, take Business 59 to the traffic light at Highway 281, then turn right and travel approximately 3 miles to Airport Road. Follow Airport Road to the County Park where the boat ramp is located. Before launching, paddlers should be aware of the river's characteristics below the dam and plan their trip accordingly—this section offers a unique paddling experience as it bridges freshwater and brackish/saltwater conditions.
