The USFS Campgrounds boat ramp provides convenient access to Whiteface Reservoir in the Superior National Forest, located about one hour north of Duluth near Markham, Minnesota. This concrete back-in ramp is situated at the north end of the reservoir adjacent to the U.S. Forest Service campground and offers a straightforward launch point for kayaks, canoes, and trailered boats. The reservoir itself supports healthy populations of walleye, panfish, and northern pike, making it popular with anglers as well as paddlers.
The surrounding campground offers additional amenities that make this a good basecamp for extended paddling trips, including 36 campsites (many with electric hookups), day-use picnic areas, and a swimming beach. Note that dispersed campsites are also available on the reservoir itself and are accessible only by boat. The site operates seasonally, typically from May through September. If you're looking for an alternative access point, a second public boat ramp is located on the south end of the reservoir near the outlet dam off Blais Road.
