Verdel Landing is a public boat ramp providing access to the Missouri River in Knox County, near the town of Niobrara. Located on the south bank, the site features a paved ramp, pit toilet, and primitive camping facilities. The access is reached via a graveled road off Nebraska Highway 12 (4 miles west of Monowi or 2.5 miles east of Lynch), though this road may be impassable during wet weather. This is a popular and well-used canoe and kayak launch point, though conditions can get busy during peak use times.
The Missouri River at this location is a major waterway—a powerful stream order 10 river with an average flow of over 121,000 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 7.4 feet per second. Paddlers should be prepared for strong currents and substantial water volume. Bazile Creek WMA, located 10 miles downstream, offers an alternative access point.
**Note:** Verdel Landing is **temporarily closed for renovation and expansion of boating access improvements**, with expected reopening in spring 2026. Contact the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for current status before planning your trip.
