Vernon Lake's boat ramp near Leesville provides free access to Bayou Anacoco and the surrounding lake system, making it an excellent launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters. The ramp is located in the Spillway Park area and includes a dock for convenient water access. No permit or pass is required to use the launch or dock facilities—Vernon Parish only asks that visitors clean up after themselves to help keep access free for everyone.
The site offers several amenities to enhance your visit, including a fishing pier, picnic areas, and swimming access. The broader area features multiple recreational opportunities with additional boat launches and parks nearby, including the pay-per-use Hickory Ridge Recreational Park with camping facilities if you're planning an extended trip. The lake supports boating, fishing, birding, and canoeing, with a scenic old bridge from the previous crossing adding character to the paddling experience.
