Veterans Memorial Park

Veterans Memorial Park offers a convenient concrete boat launch on the Saginaw River in downtown Bay City. The ramp is 40 feet wide and 70 feet long, providing reliable access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Located off M-13 north of Zilwaukee and adjacent to Veterans Bridge, the facility includes docking areas and is situated near Liberty Harbor Marina, making it a well-established launch point for river access.

The park itself spans 1.5 miles along the Saginaw River and features picnic areas and fishing opportunities, making it a good base for a day trip. Paddlers should note that the Bay City Rail Trail runs through the site. The location provides access to the Saginaw River, a major waterway in the region, with nearby recreation opportunities including the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (10,000 acres) and the Michigan Wetland Management District (629 acres) downstream, offering excellent paddling for wildlife viewing and exploring diverse wetland ecosystems.
