The ramp features two launching areas and a courtesy dock, making it accessible for kayaks, canoes, and larger motorboats. The facility includes picnic amenities with grills and tables, along with a fishing pier for shoreline anglers. The Vilano Causeway ramp is ideally positioned for exploring the scenic salt marshes and waterways of the area. Located at the confluence of the Tolomato and Matanzas Rivers, it sits just 3/4 mile from St. Augustine Inlet and direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, making it an excellent starting point for both inshore and offshore paddling or fishing. The calm salt waters near the ramp offer opportunities for kayaking and wildlife viewing, while more experienced boaters can easily venture to open water. The proximity to historic sites like Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monument adds cultural interest to any paddling excursion in the area.
