Wakpicada Natural Area provides public boat ramp access to the Wapsipinicon River in northern Linn County, situated behind the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City. The ramp was renovated and reopened following the 2008 flood, offering a convenient launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and other boaters. The 10-acre site features adjacent parking and river access to explore this scenic waterway.
Beyond water access, Wakpicada offers eight year-round campsites (including equestrian camping options), making it suitable for multi-day paddling trips. The area is open for hunting during designated seasons and remains a popular spot for day-use activities. As one of several access points along the Wapsipinicon River, it serves as a good put-in or take-out location for paddlers planning trips on the river system.
