About This Access Site
The Upper Bridge Boat Ramp provides primitive access to the Wakulla River near Crawfordville, Florida. This government-owned, public-use facility offers a straightforward launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats exploring the scenic Wakulla River. The ramp is part of Wakulla County's boat launch system; contact the Parks Department at (850) 745-7780 for current conditions and permit requirements. An annual or daily boat launch permit is required for access.

From this launch point, paddlers can explore approximately 4 miles of river downstream toward the brackish and saltwater sections of the lower Wakulla River. The river offers opportunities for both freshwater and saltwater paddling, making this a versatile access point for different types of water adventures. The area is near St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1931 as critical habitat for migratory birds—a rewarding area for wildlife viewing during your paddle. The Wakulla River system is influenced by tides, so plan your trip accordingly, especially if heading toward the lower estuary.
