About This Access Site
Washunga Bay offers convenient boat access to the northeast end of Kaw Lake on the Arkansas River, located approximately 14-16 miles east of Ponca City near the Kaw Lake dam. The campground features a dedicated boat ramp along with full amenities including flush toilets, drinking water, and campsites. From Kaw City, follow Highway 11 east for 3 miles, then turn north on County Road and continue about 5 miles following signs to the facility.

Kaw Lake is a popular destination for anglers targeting catfish, crappie, white bass, and walleye. Boaters and paddlers can access two full-service marinas at McFadden Cove and Pioneer Park, with ten launching ramps available around the lake. Beyond water activities, the area offers sandy beaches, scenic hiking trails (including the Eagle View Hiking Trail), and horseback riding opportunities along the eastern shore. The lake and river are known for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish, as well as crappie, white bass and walleye, making it a popular destination for anglers.

Hikers and horseback riders are attracted to the beautiful trails along the eastern shore. The Eagle View Hiking Trail is approximately 12 miles long and runs between Osage Cove and Burbank Landing. The Five Fingers Equestrian Trail extends from Burbank Landing to the Sarge Creek Cove Public Use Area.

Hunters' skills are tested with excellent populations of whitetail deer, turkey, quail, rabbit and squirrel. During the fall waterfowl seasons Kaw Lake often attracts large numbers of migrating ducks and geese.

During the winter visitors are likely to spot migrating bald eagles, as Kaw Lake has one of the biggest populations in the state. Facilities
