Wax Ramp

The Wax boat ramp provides access to Nolin River Lake, a large recreational lake in Grayson County known for its distinctive blue-green water. Located near Clarkson and part of the Wax Campground facility, this ramp is convenient for paddlers and boaters looking to launch kayaks, canoes, or motorboats. The surrounding area offers scenic rolling landscape typical of southern Kentucky, and the lake maintains one of Kentucky's lowest drowning rates. Nolin River Lake supports excellent fishing opportunities, with abundant catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye attracting anglers year-round. The Wax Marina nearby offers boat rentals, slips, fuel, bait, and supplies if needed. Multiple boat ramps are located around the lake for easy access. Nearby recreation includes Mammoth Cave National Park and the Tailwater Day Use area below the dam, which features additional amenities like restrooms and picnic areas.

**Directions from Bowling Green:** Take US 31W North for approximately 14 miles, turn left onto KY 101, which becomes KY 259 North in about 6 miles. Continue on KY 259 North for roughly 22 miles to reach the facility.

Visitors can enjoy scenic canoe and boat trips along the river, part of which is located within Mammoth Cave National Park. Boat ramps are provided around the lake for campers' convenience.

The Moutardier, Ponderosa and Wax Marinas are located around the lake and offer pontoon and john boat rentals, as well as boat slips and groceries, bait, gas and more.

Several hiking trails also wind along the shoreline and into the surrounding forest. Shady Creek Trail, located within the Moutardier Recreation Area, is known for its array of wildflowers and greenery.Facilities
Wax Campground offers 110 reservable campsites, complete with modern amenities like electric hookups and flush toilets. Campsites are located along the shoreline, allowing easy access to the lake and beaches for visitors.

Nolin Dam creates a 5,795-acre lake that draws more than two million visitors each year to enjoy water sports and camping in the surrounding expanse of rolling forest.
