Weldon Spring Conservation Area offers a well-maintained paved boat ramp providing access to the Missouri River, a major waterway with substantial flow and current. Located on the left bank near mile marker 48.6, the ramp accommodates a range of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. The site features a paved parking lot, making it convenient for launching and retrieving vessels. There are no restrooms, picnic areas, or camping facilities on-site.
The Missouri River at this location is a powerful waterway—averaging over 121,000 cubic feet per second with a velocity around 7.4 feet per second—so paddlers should be prepared for significant current and boat traffic. The river's 3.9 ft/mile average gradient means steady flow conditions typical of major river systems. This access point is popular with anglers pursuing big river fishing opportunities and is easily reached from Highway 40 by taking Highway 94 south for approximately 5.25 miles.
The conservation area also provides trail access and connections to the Katy Trail system, making it a good basecamp for extended paddling or hiking trips in the region.
